Too beautiful for housework the black Unfaithful Feather Duster is undoubtledly intended for other household activities.
Since Slovenian designer Nika Zupanc graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts and Design, Ljubljana in 2000 she has won numerous awards, exhibited around the world and started working with some of the best product design houses such as Moooi.
The Unfaithful Feather Duster is part of a collection called La femme et la maison that, in Nika´s own words is "first and foremost, turning the last sighs of the patriarchy into the cries of the she-almighty."
Nika takes fresh but emotionally unstable post feminist look at everyday objects and transforms them into new beautiful objects of desire. Her approach is to see the objects as living (female) objects and use design to empower or even liberate them. As Nika herself puts it as she talks of the Unfaithful Feather Duster: "Her shyness has now been replaced with the naked curves and shapes of lust and desire. Her passivity has been succeeded by the skilfully masked determination to rule your home."
Viewed as a mere cleaning utencil the price tag of EUR237 might seem a little steep for a polycarbonate feather duster but when you realise that you are in fact buying a curvacious black mistress of your home it really is a bargain.
