The Black Diamond in Copenhagen

The Black Diamond was build at Slotsholmen in Copenhagen by Schmidt Hammer as the new royal libary, and was finished in 1999. It is the largest and most important library of Scandinavia.

The Black Diamond is named after its outside cover of 2.500 square meters of black granite with the delightfully black name, 'Absolute Black'.

The stones were broken into pieces in Zimbabwe, and cut and polished in Northern Italy. The granite stones weigh 75kg a piece.
