Rad Hourani´s Favorite Black

Well first, I love the idea of asexuality. Things would be so much easier, in a way. So the androgynous component is major in my line's definition. I hope to reach people who do not define themselves primarily as men or women, who go beyond the classical demographical criteria, and black tends to blur gender boundaries.

Also, I use black to establish a seamless continuity from one season to the next. And even cancel seasons, in a way, even though I have to present my collection on a bi-yearly basis as everyone does. I choose style over fashion, and style is free from temporality.

Some may think that using mostly black in a collection is a "safe" position for a designer; so what if it is? I do not design to take risks, I do not need to be the one who makes the boldest statement every season: I'd much rather commit to my personal aesthetics and that of the people who like to wear my clothes. Black is mysterious, chic, modern and eternal.
