On closer inspection the seemingly naïve ink drawings of Sarah Hvass offer a humorous and uneasy look at everyday life.
In “Hanging in” by Sarah Hvass a pipe-smoking woman hangs from rainy skies wearing fishnet stockings and suspenders. The pipe forms a sad face and she seems to struggle holding on.
Two men with hairy chests, hats and mustaches and two women in fishnets – all holding hands. The scene is set for a double date, but the women seem to cling together like siamese twins while the men dangle like sore appendixes. “Awkward date” by Sarah Hvass.
Sarah’s paintings and illustrations are available from her studio in Copenhagen and her website.
