Often we are drawn by what’s different, as rarity seems to attract.
The spectrum of eye colour ranges everything from amber to blue, to brown, gray and green, black being amongst the rarest eye colours in the world. After red eyes, mainly seen in albinos, black eyes is considered the second most rare eye colour in human beings, even though there is an ongoing dispute whether black eyes actually exist.
Some say that people who appear to have black eyes in fact have extremely dark brown eyes that appear to be black as black doesn’t technically exist in nature – everything that seems black is actually just really dark blue or dark brown. Others take it even further and say that black is a manufactured colour. At SLAIIB we choose not to discuss this further. Manufactured or not, fake or real, existing or non-existing, black is what we do, and the fact that it keeps the debate going makes it all oh so much more fascinating.
