The real Jil Sander is going to be the design consultant for the cheap Japanese brand UNIQLO, and will now be handling all design development for the mens and woman´s lines like a consultant.
Jil Sander, 65, left her own brand in 2004, which was owned by Prada and apperantly she was not ready to retire. She left a statement about the new collaboration: “The challenge for me is to develop a democratic priced line of the highest possible quality. A lot of you might know me, but let´s not talk about the past, I want to focus on the future. I´m here in Japan for something completely new and different than before. “
Jil Sander had her glory days in the 90´s with her highly minimalistic style and clean lines, mostly Black , but sometimes she surprised you with a bold splash of color. Her new boss will be Tadashi Yanai, the wealthiest man in Japan.
We´ll be looking forward to some Black, simple, cheap styles next time we visit one of the 765 Uniqlo boutiques in the world.
