Nicola Morgan designs clothes without sewing. Fabrics are laser cut in clever patters so that they interlock to create her designs.
Nicola Morgan who won BDC designer of the year, was declared Best of UK graduates by Drapers and won the Fashion Innovation Award at the Graduate Fashion Week has discarded scissors and thread in favour of lasercutting as assembling. She took inspiration from flat packed furniture to create her 'Alterpretations' collection that she likens to ' Fashion Lego'. The interlocking 'stitches' that are used both hidden or as visible trim as an added effect creates a non-permanent seam that allows the garments to be altered and combined in ways not possible with conventional techniques.
The collection includes one-piece garments, which fold from a flah pack form to construct a fitted garment.
Even when disregarding the technique the garments are striking and innovative designs.
