Fred Perry X Stussy Deluxe

Earlier known to collaborate with Comme des Garçons and Raf Simons, Fred Perry has this time chosen to team up with streetwear giant Stussy. The spring 2010 collection is a perfect hybrid of two of the most important and original streetwear brands in apparel history.

“The Stussy Deluxe X Fred Perry collaboration combines American cultural references with the "London style" of an iconic brand,” says Nick Bower, Creative Director at Stussy. "Cool, neat, sharp, hip, and smart is the definition of a Modernist and a good description of the Fred Perry polo shirt.” The collection is classic yet edgy and contemporary and represents the best of the two brands, in shades of black, grey and blue.

The historical link between the two brands goes back decades. The Fred Perry Shirt was an important part of the US West Coast surf/punk/ska scene’s uniform in the late 1970’s – some of the same community that influenced Shawn Stussy’s grassroots brand in the 1980’s and later the development of the global Stussy Tribe.

Launching internationally in February the capsule range comprises six styles. Key pieces include the classic slim-fit Fred Perry Shirt styled in classic Stussy plaid, a re-worked tennis bomber, a heritage slim-fit, buttoned-down collar shirt and a leather and plaid Varsity jacket with tipped collar and cuffs.
