Patrick Demarchelier captures over 100 incredible gowns in a new tremendous photo essay of Dior’s couture story to date spanning the house’s entire couture history.
The house of Dior was founded in Paris by designer Christian Dior in 1946. Dior became one of the most revered names in fashion, the archetype of the Parisian couture house and famous for launching the “New Look, Christian Diors landmark first collection that marked a change in women’s dress after the Second World War. Christian Dior died while on holiday in Montecatini, Italy on 23 October 1957.
The new Dior Couture book includes designs by Christian Dior himself as well as those created by his successors Yves Saint Laurent, Marc Bohan and John Galliano. It is narrated ny Ingrid Sischy, Interview’s former Editor-In-Chief and Editor of Vanity Fair’s European editions. The book is published as a hardcover by Rizzoli.
