Talent abound at CPH Fashion Week AW2010

As the Copenhagen Fashion Week AW 2010 draws to a close SLAIIB recounts the best and the blackest of what we saw at the fashion shows.

Designers Remix Collection

Enchanted by the moment Designer Charlotte Eskildsen explored the decadence and power of historical aristocracy with the beautiful collection "Empress of the Afterlife". A strong reference to the twilight zone, and the play between light and darkness were obvious throughout the show as models alternating as black immortals and pale divine goddesses floated down a long staircase.

Known for her signature tailored jackets the designer continued the shoulder focus from last season and added strong volume and shape, asymmetrical details, tulle, feather, sequins. wool, leather and beautiful silks draped as huge flower brooches or shoulder ornaments. The collection bewitched me with its beauty and I declared it the finest of the Copenhagen Fashion Week this season.

NOIR

The intimate atmosphere already surrounding the catwalk as we entered the beautiful setting of the Nimb was intensified as models entered the catwalk dressed in only black lingerie. At the centre of the room a clothing rack with the collection became a focal point as models dressed themselves and each other to the sound of a sexy French female voice.

The collection was elegant and luxurious with lots of lace and the signature Noir leather sleeves and pants. All black with only one white lace catsuit the collection also featured transparency, silk and beautiful drapes. It was a refreshingly different experience to view the show and once again Peter Ingwersen displayed the beauty of Noir.

David Andersen

With this being his debut on the catwalk of the CFW the expectations of the talented designer were high. Thankfully the collection lived up to the tough demands with a convincing and coherent collection of fine tailoring mixed with a strong attitude and a powerful appearance. With inspiration clearly taken from the 19th century British upper class aristocracy and featuring gentlemen´s hats and canes on both male and female models presenting his AW2010 menswear collection.

The super fine collection had both the designer´s signature tailored jackets in many variations, traditional vests, check pattern, frills and cool knits with asymmetrical  and quirky details.

CPH Vision Press show

It is inherently difficult to present a coherent trend show with a distinct style and design when the show draws on the work of such varied brands as those of the CPH Vision show. In a wise move. CPH Vision had taken all the sports and street style items out to form a separate show at the second CPH Vision location "Terminal 2" thus making both shows more coherent and focused. Add to this the beautiful venue of the Royal Opera House and a more manageable number of outfits of 46 the show was a joy to watch.

The show featured a limited palette of grays, black and subdued colours with lots of silks, leather, feathers and fur. The trends featured were all the safe and obvious trends of the moment with voluminous shoulders, tight leather pants, oversize dresses and girl power

SPON DIOGO

Following the success of their debut runway show in the previous fashion week SS2010, the design duo SPON DIOGO kept the audience in anticipation waiting for the AW2010 collection to hit the runway at CFW. Rui Andersen Rodrigues Diogo and Mia Lisa Spon, the designers behind the spectacular collection certainly did not disappoint the waiting critics.

The collection had similarities with the debut with a hint of futuristic shapes but had grown up to be both wearable and elegant with amazing short dresses and luscious suits all in a coherent uncompromising total of characteristic innovation. This is one to watch and to wear.

Wackerhaus

Ultra feminine jumpsuits, short dresses, pencil skirts and blouses in fine materials were a joy to the eye as the winner of the Max Factor New Talent Award Trine Wackerhausen gave the audience a complete experience of talent and beauty when the models strolled down the runway wrapped in elegance and deliciously detailed and finely crafted tailoring.

The colors were dominated by copper and black but also featured splashes of blue and grey. With the models looking like little elves with metallic pointy ornaments on the ears the experience was of a fine coherent and mature collection.
