Hedi Slimane’s first show for Saint Laurent, spring/summer 2013 at Paris Fashion Week showed unknown models and lots of black.
Hedi Slimane is one of fashion’s most influential people. From working at Dior Homme, to one of the most successful contemporary fashion and music photographers of today, to now working for Saint Laurent.
Slimane’s just did his first show for Saint Laurent, which was held at the Grand Palais. The show was filled with 1970s rock ‘n’ roll vibes that pointed towards Slimane’s love of the alternative music scene. Slimane sent out an almost entirely black show on an army of longhaired rock cowgirls. Most striking were all the wide-brimmed felt hats, pulled low over the models tousled, shaggy hair and casting shadows over their faces paired with high, sharp shoes. The music mix for the debut show featured the late blues artist Junior Kimbrough, and was created by French electronic-music duo Daft Punk, who are old friends of Hedi Slimane.
