Sharing the black feeling

M.I.A., Chris Cunningham, Lykke Li and OFWGKTA shared the black feeling at Roskilde Festival 2011.

There was a lot of black get-together and dark music in the coloured tents at this year’s Roskilde Festival in Denmark.

The Swedish singer Lykke Li went on stage wearing black both physically and mentally and embraced the crowd with her melancholic black twisted poetry and obscure rhythms.

The eternally cool music video maker and film artist Chris Cunningham shared his dark mind on stage with video installations synchronized to the music and made an unforgettable black and white party at the Arena Scene.

British-Sri Lankan singer and provocateur M.I.A. stayed in the dark throughout her entire concert and proved that a concert characterized by no spot light at the main character can be as gripping as a conventional light show orgy.

Finally, the much-hyped L.A.-based hip hop collective OFWGKTA showed that they truly are worth the hype. Lead singer Tyler the Creator – stage diving despite a broken leg - not only gave it up for his black fellows but also stated that dark thoughts, invectives and black comedy can be controversial and catchy at the same time.
